The road so far...

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have made progress. I know you don't believe me but I really REALLY have. First things first. I don't have the mustang anymore. It's a long story, I'm angry, and I won't be speaking to my older brother any time soon. Moment of silence for Sam. Now...About the Inara. She is looking great. I'm very excited. Remember in the living room a section of the floor looked like this under the couch?

Well, We fixed it. We put down some hard wood floors that look like this. They look amazing. Except for the paint I tracked all over them. (I KNOW!!! I'm a clutz.)

And last you knew, I was ripping the shower out of there.

We had to take the floor pan out to check for leaks in the reservoir tank. But everything looked OK. No leaks there.

We added that white plastic stuff to the shower walls to keep it from damaging the wood. and it looks so much better than it did before.

We put the wall back up so we could add covering to both sides. The curved wall was actually the easiest to cover.

We finished the floors in the bedroom. Here are some comparisons.

Finished Floor with some "vintage" filter on the camera.

And we built furniture and painted the walls with Behr Brand "Dew Drop" which is a grey blue with a hint of greenish to it. Or however you would describe it. So here are some pics where we were this weekend.

That's where we are now. We are making curtains, and building a bed in the bedroom. And then I just need a door on the bathroom and such. I'm close to moving in. So close I have already bought sheets for all the beds. Even the one that isn't built yet. So, Next discussion. How many people can you comfortably fit in an airstream for a house warming party? I vote we try to find out.

Who needs a shower?

Well, we have been working on the airstream, but we have run into some problems. First, the copper piping that comes into the airstream from city water had not been properly drained. This means that water froze and busted the copper piping that was there. It looked like this...

Mid way through the fix....

So...Here is the new piping almost fully set up.

Once we got it fixed we hooked it up. Thats when THIS happened....

Not sure you can tell, that is water dripping out the screw holes. Not very fun. We aren't sure why there is water dripping out from the undercarriage where the Grey and Black water tanks are.

There was also all kinds of crazy leaks at the sink where all the connections are. Also, the shower knobs were pouring water. Since the walls were in terrible shape, we decided to take out the shower. Here it almost fully ripped out.

And here we are. No shower. I could just keep it out, make a huge bedroom, and be stinky. Or....we could put it back in. I still haven't decided....

The walls are going to be that flexible shower wall material. You know the kind with the bumpy stuff on it? This way it can follow the curve of airstream and be water tight. We will put the pan back in and caulk it up. It shouldn't be too big a deal. Since we are replacing all the water lines, we will leave it out till the end. Then, cut new wood for the walls, line them, and put it back in with the shower pan. We will only put it back in once we try the plumbing and make sure that the water leak coming out from the undercarriage isn't coming from a connection to the grey water tank. If thats the case, we need to rip up the floor boards under the shower to get to the tank.

Sigh...3 days in a row I feel like I just went backwards rather than taking steps forward. I was hoping to move into the shuttle on June 6th, but it won't be happening at this pace.

But..Here is some derby love to make all the bad thoughts go away.... (photo credit to Thorpland Photography)

Everyone, meet Inara.

Hello all. It has been ages. But school is finally winding down and I can actually get some work done on the shuttle. That's what I've been calling the Airstream. Inara, and for some reason, the shuttle just came. Anyhow...

Lets see... We have done a ton of stuff to it. First, we ripped up those floors, and my dad put down some new ones in the bedroom. But when we pulled off that wall panel, we found the leak.

It came from a dent on the outside which was in an earlier post. We pounded it out and sealed it up with a spray paint that is water proof. That is the black stuff you see.

The dent looks way better now, don't you thinks? (Refer to earlier posts for before pictures. I can't do everything for you now, can I?)

See? Isn't it pretty? We used silicon calk to fill in the gaps and will be putting the trim back on. I we did well, as we left it open for a long time to see if it would leak. Once we determined it was fixed we covered the frame (after we put the insulation in, of course).  But we found.....ANOTHER leak at the front of the shuttle. Where the couch should be. so we did the same thing and fixed it too. All that new lighter wood is fresh fixed floors. No more leaks.

Also, notice that we removed the entertainment center?

And then we noticed that the wall by the fridge needed to come out. So...that came out.

Then, the cabinets in the kitchen were all cracked, so those came out too.

Also, there was a leak by the bedroom wall where the toilet is. We took that out. too, and that was a VERY good decision.

I need to fix that, as who wants to keep the toilet visible to the bedroom? NOT me...

We also took that nasty wasp nest out from the light fixture in the bedroom. So...Now a picture from my last derby bout. Just for the fun.

Comics in the movies

Have you ever seen a comic that was turned into a movie adequately? REALLY? I'm serious. I want to know because tonight I might have seen one. And it starred Josh Hartnet. I am totally serious. And it wasn't 30 days of night, which was REALLY good, BTW.

Seriously. Josh Harnet! It was great. Probably the best adaptation onto screen I have ever seen. It's call Bunraku.

It is from this comic...

Please go watch it. It has all the best actors, and it was done so well.
Woody Harrelson, Ron Perlman, and Kevin McKidd.
It really looks like a comic on the screen. I have seen it twice now and it is worth every second. It is available via streaming on Netflix. Go enjoy it. And be sure to thank me. I need to hear the thanks.

Antiks

Well, I got brand new skates. SQUEEEEE!!!

They are AMAZING. I was told breaking them would be hard, but it wasn't. I wore them once and they were tight and kind of hurt. So I went to http://grnmnstr.com/molding-instructions/ and it was simple.

I took my wheel off, the toe stops, and removed the laces. Then I baked them according to grnmnstr's instructions. They fit perfect. I really feel the need to thank Luke "shortbus" Powell, Kyle "haterade" Divers, Amy "huckabee" Divers, and Anna "KP" Campbell for helping me get the perfect fit. They are amazing. Someone described them as "Skating on kittens"

That's probably about right. If you are looking for new skates, look at Antiks. Kittens are so soft to skate on....

On a side note, I'm selling some Reidell R3's... Message me for details.
